XI. Seminar Requirements
A. Journal Club Presentation (2nd & 3rd year)

Students should discuss Journal Club options with their Thesis Advisor

If the student is unable to find an appropriate Journal Club, the student should see the chair of the focus group within the student’s area of interest

It is expected the student will attend the Journal Club on a regular basis

The presentation must be a 30-minute campus talk

At least three CMB faculty members must be present at the talk and sign the Seminar Requirement Form available on the Forms page of the CMB website

Turn in Seminar Requirement Form to the CMB Office by August 31 (Failure to do so will result in a hold being placed on the student's registration)
B. Formal Research Seminar (4th, 5th, 6th year)

Provides a training component in which student presenters are provided critical feedback on their seminar presentation

Must be a 10-minute national talk or 30-minute campus talk

The campus talk:

Must be a 30-minute power point presentation

At least three CMB faculty members must be present at the seminar and sign the Seminar Requirement form available on the Forms page of the CMB website

A joint lab meeting may count as a Formal Research Seminar if it meets the campus talk requirements

Turn in Seminar Requirement Form to the CMB Office by August 31 (Failure to do so will result in a hold being placed on the student's registration)
