A. Annual CMB Retreat

In the fall, the CMB Program organizes a scientific symposium at Devil’s Head Resort
-
This weekend conference is intended to provide an informal atmosphere to discuss research interests between various laboratories
-
Students are encouraged to present posters, talks on their research, or workshop ideas and to interact and learn about other laboratories
-
The Retreat will be held November 8-9, 2008
-
The student contact for the 2008 retreat is: Adam Hume, hume@wisc.edu

The students provide their own transportation to the retreat
-
The CMB Program provides financial support for lodging, food, and non-alcoholic beverages
B. Committee Membership
Students take advantage of leadership opportunities through participation on the various CMB Committees. Committee membership provides:

A student voice in program matters

Leadership opportunity

Strong professional experience

A variety of commitment levels

Beneficial contacts to use throughout your education and future career
C. Selection of Committee Members

At the Fall Retreat, students will have the opportunity to volunteer to become a student representative on the following committees: Advising and Orientation, Recruiting, Coordinating, Admissions, Retreat, Alumni Relations, Professional Development, Diversity, Outreach, etc.

If necessary, a follow up e-mail will be sent to CMB students regarding committee membership

The following will be taken into consideration when choosing student volunteers for committee membership:

Ability to represent the CMB student body and CMB Program as a whole

Knowledge of the CMB Program

Knowledge of CMB students and their concerns

Diversity of focus group representation

Prior experience

The CMB Program Chair, student representatives of the Coordinating Committee, in conjuction with the CMB Coordinator, will make the final decision regarding student representation on each of the standing committees
