How to Apply

* December 15, 2007: Deadline for ALL application materials to be received for Fall 2008 Admission (Admissions Committee only reviews COMPLETE applications)

* ALL supplemental application materials must be sent to the CMB Program directly

* When applying to multiple programs at UW-Madison, send a complete set of application materials to EACH program (materials sent to other programs at UW-Madison will not be forwarded or shared with CMB)

1. Submit application electronically at http://info.gradsch.wisc.edu/admin/admissions/appinstr.html

  • Indicate Department or Major Field of Study: “Cellular and Molecular Biology 147, ALS"
  • List names and e-mails of 3 references who will submit electronic Letters of Recommendation
  • Letters should be from people familiar with your research and scholastic qualifications

2. Submit GRE & TOEFL Scores

  • GRE scores are sent electronically from ETS to the Graduate School at UW-Madison
  • Indicate 1846: University of Wisconsin-Madison code (Only indicate the UW-Madison code, there is no Department code)
  • If you did not originally indicate UW-Madison 1846 when the exam was administered, please see the ETS website to obtaining additional electronic score reports

3. Pay the Graduate School non-refundable application fee ($ 45.00), if you did not already submit your credit card number at the end of the electronic application

* Applications cannot be reviewed without paying the Graduate School application fee
** The UW Graduate school offers a limited number of application fee grants to eligible students 

4. Submit the following supplemental materials directly to CMB: (ALL are required for a complete application)

a. Statement of Purpose or Reasons for Graduate study (If not already submitted with the online application)

  • List of awards, honors, and/or publications

b. OFFICIAL transcripts or academic records from each institution attended

  • Documents must be issued by the school with the official seal/stamp and an official signature
  • International transcripts: must be in the original language accompanied by an official English translation

c. Documentation of English language skills is highly recommended, in addition to the TOEFL scores
