The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), National Institutes of Health (NIH), will hold a regional Grantsmanship Seminar next Friday. The one-day seminar is sponsored by the Laboratory for Optical and Computational Instrumentation and the Department of Biomedical Engineering and co-sponsored by the Office of the CIO and Vice Provost for Information Technology, as part of a continuing series on research computing topics.

The seminar is intended to provide an overview of NIBIB funding opportunities and NIH application, review and grant-making processes and policies. The one-day program will feature presentations from NIBIB science program and scientific review staff and includes (1) descriptions on NIBIB research programs and scientific opportunities and advances, (2) instructional presentations on the NIH application, review and grant-making processes and policies, (3) question-and-answer panel sessions with the NIBIB program staff, (4) grantee perspectives related to the NIH application process, and (5) a grant writing workshop.

Attendance will be limited by room size to about 200 people, including faculty, researchers, students, and others interested in bioengineering and biomedical imaging research and research training opportunities at the NIH. Quantitative scientists who have little familiarity with NIH but are interested in biomedical applications will especially benefit from this Seminar.
